Another year, another coachella, and this one made a huge splash. From the most talked about breakout artist of the year, Gotye, to the resurrection of the late Tupac, coachella is still generating buzz well after the last band had packed up their instruments. It seems as though coachella is one of the very few music festivals that is noticed just as much for its fashion as the music. Every year attendees- including a plethora of celebrities- break out the boho for the modern day woodstock festival.
We saw Lauren Conrad and Lea Michelle sporting Lacoste’s signature classic yet trendy design’s, Florence Welch of Florence and the machine wearing a Dolce and Gabbana Spring 2012 ‘Dolce’ bag, and many of Mulburry’s printed dresses, seen on Emma Watson and Lily Collins.
While the designer pieces worked well for the celebrities, I was more interested in Coachella street style. The weekend kicked off with unusually cold weather which gave people an excuse to sport layers upon layers. As the festival progressed, those layers began to slowly peel off allowing us to spot trends for summer 2012. What I noticed most were feathers and prints. Printed pants, skirts and dresses paired with beaded and feathered accessories, think almost famous meets Navajo.
While skimming through photos of coachella attendees I couldn’t help but think back to Canadian designer Laura Siegel and her Spring/Summer 2012 line. If you’re into the boho trend, I would highly recommend looking into her line for the upcoming season.
I’ve posted photos below from random coachella blogs to give you an idea of some of the trends that were spotted throughout the festival.

We’ve all heard the myth about mayonnaise being good for your hair. I’m constantly hearing about a friend of a friend that put mayonnaise in her hair and instantly gained gorgeous locks. Before dousing my hair in societies least favored condiment, I did some research.
Turns out that the three best natural conditioners for your hair are eggs, vinegar and oil, the three ingredients of mayonnaise. After mustering up the courage to put the nasty stuff on my head, I decided to blend it with something else that will make the process all the more tolerable.
Its been said that in earlier times, avocado pulp was used to stimulate hair growth, and as a result, many hair treatments today are made with the beneficial fruit.
In my experiment I used one cup of Mayonnaise and half an avocado. After blending the two together (you can use a fork to mash up the avocado then just mix it with the mayonnaise) I worked it into my hair -focusing on my dry ends- and wrapped my head in plastic wrap for 20 minutes.
I had two choices when it came to the other half of the avocado, eat it, or smear it all over my face. For the sake of science I did the latter. After letting the paste on my head and face dry for about 20 minutes, I washed it all off in the shower, shampooing and conditioning as usual.
The myth that I heard about the mayonnaise is that it is supposed to make your hair more shiny, well I didn’t notice any shine but it definitely was softer so I wouldn’t say that the experiment wasn’t a giant failure. As for my skin, the avocado allowed me to have a make-up free day :)
Hope some of you might find this helpful, I’ll try to find more tips and tricks to post on here, If you have any ideas let me know!
So last night I had a very lengthy conversation with my best friend- the beautiful ms. Jessica Jean- in which we shared all the different tips, tricks and trends in hair and beauty products. Between the two of us, we had quite an impressive list. After running through everything we had heard of that claims to make your hair thicker, your skin more clear, and reduces your pores, we decided that we are going to try out each of these beauty wives tales, and keep you guys updated on what works and what doesnt. Have one that you’ve heard of but are too scared to try out? Let us know and we’ll do it for you!
Whats the best way to score yourself one of Lagarfelds chanel purses? Well, allow him to insult your weight of course.
The fashion industry is constantly criticized for idolizing the svelte body type, while most designers try to break that mold -Think Marc Fast’s first ever plus size line at London Fashion Week- others choose to stick to what they know.
Lagarfeld, known for his admiration of willowy women, went on to call Adele “a little too fat” which caused major backlash.
“The thing at the moment is Adele” said Lagarfeld “she is a little too fat, but has a beautiful face and a divine voice.”
The soulful songstress has found her way into the hearts of virtually everyone (except for the two guys she wrote all those break up songs about..yikes..), which makes Lagarfeld’s comment all the more tasteless.
After being criticized from almost everyone, Lagarfeld issued a lame non-apology claiming it was the writers fault, and that his comment was taken “out of context”, the designer went on to say that he hopes to work with Adele as the new face of Chanel Mademoiselle bags after their contract with Blake Lively is up. To add a cherry ontop of the high-end diss, Lagarfeld sent the songstress a lieu of the fashion house’s best handbags.
What was Adele’s response to all the commotion?
“I represent the majority of women and I’m very proud of that.”
Oh Karl Lagarfeld, when will you learn? Coco Chanel is turning in her grave.
I know that I said I would post photos from each fashion week, but things have been crazy!! Hopefully you all kept up with all the FW F/W 2012 trends (thick belts are back, amen!). More posts will be coming as soon as possible!

Who else has been following the fashion week circuit? I could write about it but you know what they say, a picture is worth a thousand words. Below are photos from the Giorgio Armani and Roberto Cavalli shows during Milan Fashion Week F/W 2012. (photos courtesy of latimes.com)
